Welcome to Children

Children are very welcome in All Saints' Church. We want families with children to feel comfortable here. We have a special children's corner at the back of the church where someone is usually available to look after your child if they feel too restless to sit in the service. There are "pew bags" which contain small toys and crayons, suitable for children under five so that your child can stay with you in your pew.

Visits to the School and Preschool

Reverend Pam and assistants regularly visit the school where they hold school assemblies and give talks. Reverend Pam is a school governor.

Edward Bear Club

On the second Monday of the Month we have an Edward Bear Club, which is for babies and children up to the age of five, with their carer.

This is a short service starting at 2.15 pm. We have action songs and a story followed by refreshments and playtime for children. Anyone is welcome to come of course.

All Age Service

The All Age Service on the first Sunday of the month is especially suitable for children.

The children are encouraged to participate in these services. They often help in the sermon, do the readings, and at special events they take part in many ways including acting in plays and in dance.

During these services we have a music group with two flutes and an oboe as well as the organ.

Craft Mornings

Four times a year we have crafts for children on a Saturday morning.

In the past, children have made banners to hang up in the church, painted a mural, made paper flowers and butterflies, chocolate Easter nests, and an Easter Garden, and have been involved in many other handicrafts. You can see some of the things they have made in the children's corner of the church.

Tara Whitaker is our Children's Events Coordinator and has completed the Bishop's course in Children's Ministry.

Special Events

We plan to hold a special Summer event for children each year. Last year we had a very successful Children's Olympic games to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of our church. Children took part in all sorts of competitions, even throwing the javelin, luckily only made of foam rubber! There was a medal ceremony in church.

On Pentecost Sunday we have a picnic in the church grounds after the service, and have special activities for the children.
